EPIC Helpers for Art Show

We are in need of some EPIC helpers for our Art Show, Friday, April 26th, from 5 to 7 pm.  We have available slots for students to be door holders, greeters, and musicians.  Please sign up with your child’s name and their friend’s name, if it’s a slot for 2 helpers.  We truly appreciate your child’s assistance in making this year’s art show a success!  For the musicians, please fill in your child’s instrument and name of the songs, if possible, in the comments section.  If you’ve already emailed me for a musician’s position, then I’ve already got you down for that time slot.

Thanks again Central parents!

Helping You and Your Child Transition Well

Thursday, May 9, 8:20am

Dear 6th Grade Parents,

Have you been wondering what it will be like at TCA Junior High? To best help you navigate the transition with your child, Central is hosting a parent panel for our 6th grade families. During this time, veteran parents will share their experiences and answer your most pressing questions!

Please join us for this 6th grade parent-only event at 8:20am in room 176 on Thursday, May 9. If you are unable to attend in person but want to listen to the conversation, please contact me (demeyer@asd20.org) for a zoom link.

Viva Day

Spanish Viva Event: 6th grade,

Friday, April 5th 10:00-12:05

At the Viva Event, we will be celebrating all countries that speak Spanish.  Students are welcome to dress up as people from any Spanish speaking country.  Most people in Spanish and Latin American large cities wear clothes like in the U.S., but they do dress up in special traditional costumes on holidays and special occasions.  Pick a country. Wear something traditional, your favorite national soccer jersey top, or a woven poncho. Students may always choose to wear their regular uniform clothes instead of dressing up.

Sincerely,

Art Shoes

NEWS FROM THE 6TH GRADE ART ROOM
Dear 6th Grade Parents,

It has been an exciting year so far with your students! In a short while, students will be starting a Baroque unit in art class. We will be studying the art and architecture of the style and we need your help collecting materials for our Baroque Shoe Sculpture! Each student will need to bring in at least 1 shoe or boot for their sculpture. (Old outgrown shoes are best. Baby shoes, roller skates, and cowboy boots are fine too. If you have two shoes, please send in both shoes for others to share! No flip-flops or slippers please. Thrift stores are a great place to find these if you don’t have any at home.) Students need to have a theme for their shoe, such as nature, sports, art, school, toys, games, legos, etc.

Please also bring in at least 3 items from the following list:

Legos

McDonald’s happy meal toys

Beads and baubles

Plastic or metal bottle caps

Army men, plastic figurine and farm animals

Small race toys (small race cars, wheels, tinker toys)

Marbles or small rocks

Glass stones

Seashells

Golf tees

Golf balls, small bouncy balls

Jacks

Crayons

Buttons

Small Bells

Any other small, cheap trinket you can think of to glue onto the shoe

Please have the shoe and additional items into the art room (#132) on your regular art day, the week of February 26th-29th. Please bring in the items in a labeled plastic bag with the student’s name and class code.

Thank you for your help with this! Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
